ABOUT WADIM VODOVOZOV

I am a physician scientist (MD/PhD) in the field of psychiatry with the goal to better understand the neural underpinnings of human behavior in psychopathological states like schizophrenia. I have gained research experience during the work for my medical doctoral (MD) thesis in Heidelberg (Germany), where I graduated from medical school, and at the Department of Psychiatry of Harvard Medical School (research fellow for one year). Currently, I am working on my PhD at the School of Psychology of UNSW (Sydney), investigating inner speech abnormalities in schizophrenia and gaining insights into the phenomenology of auditory-verbal hallucinations. Additionally, I have gained clinical experience through various internships in the fields of internal medicine, psychiatry and otolaryngology (Massachusetts General Hospital). My expertise beside my clinical knowledge and experience includes data analysis and interpretation, the implementation of research tools, experimental design of studies of perception and critical analysis and reviewing of scientific literature. I am driven by my passion for the mechanisms of human perception and information processing and also enjoy coming up with new ideas to approach more global problems, especially when it comes to the destigmatization of psychiatric diseases. My colleagues would describe me as a highly motivated individual with a positive and optimistic attitude. After completion of my PhD program, I will start my psychiatry residency in the U.S.
