ABOUT WADE KLOOS

I have over 30 years of experience working for and with state and local governments. 18 years of municipal and state government experience working in environmental, planning, community development, natural resources and GIS capacities. As a GIS Coordinator, I prepared budgets, managed staff, and authored implementation plans. For 12 years working at Esri, I helped government agencies understand the value of deploying geospatial solutions to improve their operations. In 2013, I was hired as the first GIS Director at Utah DNR and focused on developing an enterprise GIS program and documenting high-value GIS results. In my current capacity at DNR, I am now developing and refining other enterprise systems that deliver broad benefits throughout the department. I am energized by the process of discovering, documenting, measuring and communicating the organizational value DNR employees produce so that management has a clear understanding of, and appreciation for, the operational improvement their people create.
