ABOUT VRITTI KOTIAN
Describe yourself as an artist? I am the kind of artist who is constantly looking for passion, that vibe, that feel of something right and amazing and that is what I try to show in my art as well. I try to make my audience a part of my experiences, a part of my realization so that they know the way I see the world. Though I am still an explorer and always a learner, I would call myself a painter, an installation artist, and an art director who is constantly curating her stories so that the world gets closer to whatever that thing in your chest is feeling. What kind of emotions or responses do you hope to evoke for your audience? I shall go anywhere I think I might find my thrill to live! I want to fulfill my purpose of living and this is the only thing that excites me as often as I think of. And spreading these ideas to a different set of an audience always inspires me to do better than before. My true inspiration is the women I see in the local trains of Bombay and if my art can make them smile even for a glance, no one could say I haven\'t been to What can we expect from your future works, are you planning to expand your artistic practice to other mediums? I use many materials, from paints to papier mache, to waste fabric even. The texture and feel of each new material really satisfy me. It seems like I learn different lessons from each. My process of painting or doing any work is my subconscious to credit for. I use it only and only when I am solely focused on work and thinking of new ideas to come up with. I use my subconscious even without knowing it- the way it asks me to pick a color unknowingly really fascinates me because, in the end, it is always an artwork to adore by everyone else, it is always something true and pure that has come alive that even the conscious minds can appreciate. From the conceptualizing to the final artwork, each artwork just inspires me to do more projects and get more achievements! How do you see the role of festivals and exhibitions in the journey of an artist? I want to create art! Mostly public art. So much art that I influence people to find in their lost emotions! I want each person to get close to their shyness, naivety, kindness, humbleness, to all those emotions that make us human beings. In today\'s world when we see so much negativity happening around us, I think it is only my art that can save it from becoming another Gotham City.
