ABOUT VALERIY REDCHENKO
A versatile software engineer with more than a decade of industry experience and deep understanding of software development practices and their common trade-offs. Academic background in CS and Artificial Intelligence.Though I spent most of my career building (and fixing) code, I\'m also experienced in: • development planning • technical interviewing • tailoring productive team workflows • setting up quality test automation and CI/CD pipelines • technical and business writing, requirements gathering, spec writing and solution design, to mention a fewPresently dipping my toes into learning Julia, with a view to add Elixir to my list of competencies. Working on a number of personal pet projects in my spare time to satisfy my curiosity, in the scope of which I’m also putting ArangoDB and GraphQL to good use.At several previous positions I have done the following: • have led developer teams • helped onboard new projects • designed and implemented tech interview plans, etc. • have been known to preach effective communication, handovers and ownership - and put fair effort into exercising all these good things, tooI had a brief spell overseeing a transitional period for a small digital agency. My job was to conduct a knowledge transfer and assemble a replacement team of developers to achieve maximum continuity for existing customers. At one point in my career I was privileged with the role of a Software Engineer in Test for an unbelievably cool data science and AI startup - that experience taught me a great deal about how complex software development projects could be conducted at the highest standard.Prior to that, the projects I worked on revolved around desktop and mobile HTML5 apps written in AngluarJS, with supporting HTTP APIs written in NodeJS and MongoDB. I\'ve also worked with CouchDB and had run-ins with Neo4j.In my early days of web development I built content-managed sites and ecommerce systems using the olden LAMP stack, i.e. PHP, MySQL, XML/XSLT as well as front-end pre-Web2.0 varieties of HTML, CSS and JS.
