ABOUT VOJTECH MARES

I discovered computing as a kid and let this geeky, gaming fueled romance lead my schooling decisions. Few years later and not surprisingly I graduated with a BSc Hons in Computer Science with Games Technology. I started my London dev career in the finance sector just before the financial crisis of 2008. I was hired as a.NET developer by Evaluate Technologies one of the many hot startups - mortgage search. I learned c# the week before my interview as I needed to complete my university team assignment. In my final year project I applied neural networks on mortgage matching, I worked together with university senior fellow, I failed to prove the feasibility of my proposal and I gained first. Afterwards, I worked my way through the London tech scene, I learned about startups, experienced tight corporate environments, mastered.net and a bunch of other technologies. I became a fan of domain-driven design, CQRS, and MVPs. I realised I am not interested in having endless engineering discussions and started focusing on solving actual problems and drifted towards product management. After a couple of years transitioning I come to the realization I need the tech side of things to feel useful. I settled on a technical product manager role.At the moment I work as an Engineering Manager and I am responsible for 3 teams. Project delivery and line manage about 12 developers, I still code when I can. What\'s next?
