Responsible for the daily operation of the HBA office and management of the staff;Attend all HBA and HBF Board meetings, report to the Board of Directors of the HBA, and serve as the primary staff contact and as an ex-officio member of the Boards of Directors of the HBA and the HBF: Advise the HBA President on appointments to the Foundation Board of Directors, the Lone Star Legal Aid Board of Directors and the City of Houston Ethics Commission;Work with the HBA Controller or Finance Director to manage the finances of the HBA and HBF, including: oversee external audits, approve all accounts payable review and monitor all contracts entered into by the HBA and the HBF, and select outside vendors to obtain effective professional assistance for all operations;Work with the investment consultants to review the investment policies and asset allocation strategies and report to the HBA and HBF Boards regarding investment performance on a monthly basis;Maintain the physical facilities, furnishings, and office equipment and technology;Responsible for hiring, training, setting compensation and office policy, including remote work policy, and overseeing all staff of the HBA;Serve as secretary of the Houston Bar Foundation;Maintain a cooperative relationship with other local bar associations, the State Bar of Texas, the American Bar Association, the courts, county and city offices, and three Houston law schools. Maintain communication and interaction with community organizations and the public to provide a positive representation and leadership in the legal community and the community at large on behalf of the HBA.Maintain awareness of issues that affect the legal community, the legal profession, and the delivery of legal services. Sit ex-officio on the boards of directors of the HVL, DRC, and HLRS and serve as a liaison between the HBA Board of Directors and the boards and leadership of those Ancillary Organizations.
