Department of Cell Biology, College of Medicine – Center for Geroscience and Healthy Brain Aging• Investigating how mitochondrial dysfunction and reduced insulin-like growth factor signaling drive cerebrovascular aging, vascular fragility, and cognitive decline.• Studying vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) phenotypic switching and endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EndMT) in brain aging using in vitro and in vivo models.• Gaining advanced technical expertise in in vivo vascular imaging, mouse surgery, behavioral assays, flow cytometry, single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, and bioinformatic analysis in R.• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across four laboratories, integrating expertise in vascular biology, mitochondrial aging, and therapeutic development.• Contributing to the design and implementation of a liposome-based therapeutic strategy for targeting cerebrovascular aging.• Selected participant in the Geroscience Peer Review Training Program, gaining insight into NIH-style peer review and grant evaluation.• Developing professional skills in scientific writing, grantsmanship, mentoring, and research compliance, including contributions to IACUC/IBC protocols and grant progress reports.• Actively mentoring junior trainees (undergraduates and graduate students) using a structured “see, do, teach” approach to foster independence and critical thinking.• Engaged in career development activities toward technology transfer and commercialization, including mentorship, workshops, and planned participation in AUTM training programs.
