ABOUT VIRGINIA-MARIA VLACHAVA

Viral immunologist, leveraging my strengths in strategic and innovative thinking along with my expertise in biotechnology and immunology to contribute to the understanding of disease and enable the development of novel, accessible therapies. As a biomedical scientist with over 15 years’ experience, I specialise in molecular and immunological virus-host interactions and I have been developing antibodies, that can mobilise NKs against infected target cells. I have studied viruses in terms of epigenetic regulation, signalling and immunology and to that end I have built dozens of viral vectors, antibodies, proteins, and cell lines, I have set up thousands of immune co-culture reactions and spent hundreds of hours on microscopes and flow cytometers documenting phenotypes of both infected targets and immune cells. With an extensive experience on R&D I take a holistic approach to project design and realisation. I enjoy working with a team of experts, addressing problems from different perspectives and have an eye for process optimisation.#scientist #virology #innate #immunology #signalling #antibodies #proteins #molecular biology #vectors #STEM
