Sesto Fiorentino, IT

ABOUT VLADISLAV GAVRYUSEV

I\'m an experimental researcher and Assistant Professor in Physics. I\'ve earned my Master\'s degree in Physics at the University of Florence, with an experimental thesis on ultra-cold atoms at LENS, where I worked for further 9 months. Then I obtained a PhD in Physics at Heidelberg University, funded by a Marie-Curie EU fellowship and by the IMPRS-QD. There I studied light-matter interactions in highly excited (Rydberg) atom systems. Then I\'ve been a postdoctoral researcher in Biophysics at LENS, where I developed an advanced dual-view light sheet microscope to map the human brain structure. Finally, first as PostDoc and now as an Assistant Professor, I came back to ultracold Rydberg atom physics, building a new experiment for quantum simulation with Rydberg Strontium atoms in Optical Tweezers, together with a great team and colleagues. On the job, I\'m objective oriented, eager to take the project\'s challenge and committed to reach the goals. I can work well individually or within a team and I see myself as a good team player, striving to exploit the strengths of teamwork. During my PhD, I successfully developed and practiced leadership skills, by supervising many graduate students during their Master\'s thesis and by teaching.By being an experimental physicist, I acquired extensive hands-on experience of working with and designing optical and optoelectronic systems, lasers and electronics. I have good IT and programming skills, and also data analysis and simulation experience. Additionally I\'m competent in several theoretical and applied physics topics, mainly related to Photonics, Optics, Microscopy, Atomic and Solid State Physics. My education, traits and skills lead me to face new problems and challenges with a creative and flexible approach. I\'m naturally inclined to acquire a broad overview of my task\'s scope and I\'m able to quickly learn new topics and methods. My education is complemented and enriched by my life experience. I was born in Russia and I\'ve lived in many European countries, Spain, Italy and Germany. This path gave me a broad outlook on life, flexibility and the ability to understand and to relate to different people and to new situations. Last, but not least, I speak six languages, out of which Russian and Italian are native and an excellent English.
