Designed a sophisticated portable five-camera rig for a dataset capture. Total weight is under 10 kg, total battery life in the recording mode is more than 1.5 hours, time synchronization in a microsecond range, and fits in the standard luggage. These qualities allowed swift collection of a huge training dataset (350 hours in 11 countries)– Improved stability of camera lens-body attachment from 100 um to 10–20 um using custom-designed lens holders– Developed content-based calibration procedure which improved quality of the 3D reconstruction by 20% initially and 10% through incremental improvements– Developed high-fidelity reproducible vLOG to sRGB conversion pipeline with more than 10^5 distinct colour augmentations– Implemented wide lens distortion calibration procedure for stereo-shooting iPhone app. The main challenge was to conserve the center image part “as is” for stereo matching– Implemented orientation and distortion aware outpainting procedure which significantly improved VR-immersion
