ABOUT VIVEK SHANKAR VARADHARAJAN
As a seasoned Postdoctoral Fellow specializing in swarm robotics, I am passionate about pushing the boundaries of autonomous systems to solve complex challenges. With a background in Swarm Intelligence and a Ph.D. from Polytechnique Montréal, I have dedicated my career to exploring the realms of communication, coordination, and organization within practical robot swarms. My journey in robotics has been marked by diverse experiences, from spearheading innovative research projects at Polytechnique Montréal to collaborating with interdisciplinary teams on collaborative artistic demonstrations with robot swarms. I thrive in dynamic environments where creativity meets technical rigor, and I continuously seek opportunities to bridge the gap between academic research and real-world applications. Throughout my career, I have contributed to various groundbreaking projects, including the development of digital twin maps using robot swarms, participation in DARPA Subterranean Challenge missions, and leading autonomy teams at the European Space Agency\'s ESRIC Challenge. My expertise spans perception, mapping, exploration planning, and swarm coordination, supported by a strong technical foundation in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, and Java, as well as proficiency in ROS, MATLAB/Simulink, and other robotics software. Beyond my technical skills, I am committed to sharing knowledge and fostering learning within the robotics community. As a guest lecturer and teaching assistant at Polytechnique Montréal, I have had the privilege of mentoring future generations of engineers and researchers in swarm intelligence and robotics. Outside of work, I am a Dad, an avid reader, a photographer, and a music enthusiast. I am fluent in multiple languages, including Tamil, Kannada, English, and German. I am always eager to connect with like-minded professionals who share a passion for robotics and innovation.
