Scientist Ii
May 2022 — Present
Spearheaded the development of next generation gene transfer therapies targeting neurological diseases, notably Parkinson\'s disease. Contributed to advancement of dry Age-related Macular Degeneration (dry AMD) gene therapy towards IND-enabling studies. • Devised an early-stage platform for the precise delivery of AAV particles to the Substantia Nigra pars compacta and striatum in mouse and rat models. • Experimented with diverse promoters and vector serotypes to optimize gene transfer efficacy within dopaminergic neurons both in vitro and in vivo. • Conducted comprehensive assessments of transgene expression and functionality in vitro, encompassing IPSC-derived dopaminergic neuronal cultures. • Strategically evaluated Contract Research Organizations (CROs) for executing proof-of-concept studies in the 6-OHDA rat model. • Designed ELISA assays to reproducibly quantify transgene expression, contributing significantly to the advancement of the dry AMD project. • Mentored and managed two REGENXBIO employees, fostering their professional growth and project contributions.
