I worked on stereo images from Chandrayaan-3’s NAVCAM to enable autonomous lunar rover navigation at Space Application Center, ISRO. I developed a deep feature matching model inspired by LoFTR to achieve high-precision subpixel correspondence between stereo pairs. Using these correspondences, I generated high-resolution Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) for accurate 3D terrain reconstruction. These DEMs were then integrated into a simulated navigation system for rover path planning and obstacle avoidance. My approach led to a 10× improvement in accuracy and reliability over existing models through the use of advanced deep learning and image processing techniques.
