Navigating the complexity of public food procurement through design: Led the creation of frameworks and a generalized process using co-design methods – workshop facilitation, prototyping, and simulation – to help public officials understand the system and implement necessary changes for success.Managing cross-functional stakeholders in a Learning Network: Facilitating bi-weekly calls & workshops for public officials from 14+ jurisdictions implementing values-based food procurement in over 40 public institutions – to collectively problem solve and create a safe space for open collaboration.Aiding City of Chicago & Honolulu directly with food procurement implementation: Understanding the existing assets and barriers in these cities to help them navigate through them and take necessary actions.Visualizing complex systems to inspire action through human-centered design methods: Deploying design artifacts like, journey maps, service blueprints, personas, systems maps, and posters to visualize, humanize, and breakdown complexity to help stakeholders position themselves in the system and take action.Developed a web-based Values-Based Food Procurement Toolkit: Independently designed and tested, a fully functional toolkit website, including a self-assessment for public officials to understand their jurisdiction, recommendations based on the assessment, and 20+ plug-and-play templates to facilitate implementation. The website hierarchy and functionality was tested to suit the mental model of the users, public officials.Led from design research to prototyping and design of the Learning Network & Toolkit: Successfully laid out a designed project plan and implemented design research, synthesis, workshop facilitation, prototyping, and development of the Learning Network & Toolkit with public officials as co-design partners.
