For over a decade, I have been deeply involved in the hospitality industry, developing a strong appreciation for the operational, financial, and strategic dynamics that drive successful businesses. In my role with Paperchase Accountancy — a tech-forward global brand with over 35 years of specialisation in the hospitality sector — I work at the intersection of finance, operations, and business growth.As Director of Operations, I oversee the day-to-day functions of the business while remaining closely involved in strategic planning and execution. My responsibilities span operational efficiency, financial management, leadership and team development, compliance and risk oversight, resource allocation, and data-driven analysis to support informed decision-making across the organisation.I work closely with a wide spectrum of hospitality stakeholders including Owners, CEOs, CFOs, Finance Directors, Financial Controllers, Global Operations Directors, General Managers, Executive Chefs, Bar Managers, Sommeliers, and HR teams. This collaborative approach enables me to understand hospitality businesses from multiple operational perspectives and ensure that financial strategy aligns with operational realities.In addition, I engage with a broad ecosystem of hospitality service providers and technology partners including POS platforms, merchant service providers, procurement systems for both F&B and non-F&B, HR and rota platforms, tronc management specialists, lease management systems, accounting software providers, and real estate service providers. This exposure allows me to help clients build efficient, integrated operational and financial infrastructures.Working in such a fast-paced and dynamic industry has been an ongoing journey of learning. It is both highly rewarding and intellectually stimulating, continually expanding my skill set while presenting new strategic and operational challenges to solve.
