ABOUT VIRGINIA LEACH
Virginia Leach is a fourth-year PhD student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the Department of Sociology. She recently graduated Drew University with a B.A. in Sociology (honors). Throughout her undergraduate degree, Virginia served as an Academic and Teacher’s Assistant within the Sociology Department. She was inducted into Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD) which is the international honors society for Sociology. In addition to that, she was a part of the 2019 cohort of the Moore Undergraduate Research Apprentice Program (MURAP) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has studied abroad in Paris, France, Martinique, and Puerto Rico during her undergraduate career. She has published independent research twice which can be found at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Library and the Drew University Library. Her research interests include health equity, medical racism, cancer, and reproductive justice.
