About Vipul Naik
My professional work has been at the nexus of data analysis, data engineering / machine learning engineering, software development, and infrastructure. My first job after my Ph.D. was at LiftIgniter, a machine learning startup that websites and apps use to recommend related content (products, videos, articles, etc.) from their own sites. I joined in 2014 and was part of the founding team. I was involved with the company\'s growth over 5.5 years, ultimately leading to a successful acquisition by The Arena Group (then known as Maven Coalition) where I continued in a similar role. The LiftIgniter product is still in use as of January 2025.I left The Arena Group in 2022 to join Equator Therapeutics, a biotech startup whose CEO was my friend and former collaborator. However, by early 2023, in light of negative feedback about my performance and a realization that my skills and contributions were not in line with the company\'s highest-priority needs, I decided to leave Equator and return to my old company. I returned to The Arena Group after things didn\'t work out at Equator Therapeutics. My role at The Arena Group is similar to what it was in 20••••22, though with reduced responsibilities and different focus areas due to the evolving needs of the company and the part-time nature of my role. Areas I will likely be working on include: site performance (as measured through core web vitals and Lighthouse), ads data collection, metrics/alerts/monitoring, and recommendations (the original LiftIgniter product).
