ABOUT VIOLETTE DESSUREAULT

In a nutshell, I’m an accomplished, bilingual bid and proposal manager with a highly-developed communication expertise, a multi-industry background, strong messaging, writing and visual communication skills. I’ve worked at HP, ACS-Xerox and SAP, in a management position in renewable energy and now one of Canada\'s foremost private engineering consulting firms, BBA.I’ve been described as a “general”, a trusted and effective executive able to drive results while keeping teams organized and keeping an eye on strategy. I also have experience as a “diplomat”, liaising between teams and agendas, making sure stakeholders are heard and objectives are aligned. This takes a healthy dose of managerial courage, along with a humble approach and a willingness to listen. Two of the things that bring me the most fulfillment are: crafting a persuasive message, especially in support of sustainable or purpose-driven endeavours; and marshalling the intelligence and energies of multi-disciplinary teams towards exceptional results. I take people and teams as they are, and try to uplift them whenever possible to become better than the sum of their parts. I love coaching younger employees — it gives me a chance to apply what I know, think about what I’m doing and incrementally improve. Accompanying them towards better outcomes gives me a tremendous sense of accomplishment. And they\'re just fun in general:)I’ve worked mostly in IT and in proposal management for the last several years, now developing a knowledge of engineering and the AEC industry, but earlier in my career, I honed my written and visual communication skills in children’s entertainment, TV distribution, transactional web development (back when the internet was new.) as well marketing research and strategy in the largest independent consulting firm in Canada, covering a wide array of industry sectors and business problems. I’d be delighted to help you craft a strong marketing message — or a political one, if our views align, to work with you and your team to organize and develop strong proposals or proposal content, to take over a project or a team, or alternately to take a back seat and provide support where needed. I’m at a point in my career where I can do all these things, do them well, and not feel the need to be the smartest person in the room.
