I would rather redesign the power grid.As the head of Finance Technology at Splunk, now part of Cisco, I run a multi-billion-dollar ecosystem powering order-to-cash, revenue, procurement, analytics, sales commission, and more. I oversee dozens of integrated platforms and a global team delivering strategic transformation at scale. I also serve as Director of Finance Transformation at Cisco, driving modernization and strategic growth.My philosophy is that internal platforms should be as innovative and user-centric as the ones we sell. This product-first mindset is my blueprint for transforming a business function from overhead into a competitive advantage. I don\'t run cost centers. I build enterprise products and treat our entire portfolio as one.While I live in strategy documents and quarterly reviews now, I started as an engineer and have never lost the love for a complex problem. It allows me to translate between a boardroom strategy and a whiteboard session with my architects. That\'s precisely how we built the Finance AI Lab and launched SmartFinance.AI, a platform now critical to finance operations and being scaled at Cisco.I applied this same approach to organizational design as the founding site leader for Splunk\'s first expansion into India, establishing the Hyderabad talent center. Leading 300+ Splunkers and serving on the Splunk India board gave me full immersion in corporate architecture, from government relations and site selection to global scaling. I led a cross functional effort with legal, facilities, and talent teams to design the operational framework, including talent acquisition, compensation strategy, and building a high retention culture. While I had previously localized finance systems, this was a rare, live experience of localizing an entire company, shaping culture, policies, and organizational structures to align Splunk’s global values with local norms. We forged an in-house team that became a hub for product innovation and played a pivotal role in executing the $28B M&A integration with Cisco. This was a uniquely rewarding experience in shaping an organization, not just a system.Ultimately, my playbook is simple. Hire brilliant people, give them a clear mission and the autonomy to execute, and you can turn any back office function into a strategic engine. What keeps me on my toes is that in this industry, the only thing more expensive than innovation is obsolescence.
