I lead a cross-company communications team for Amazon, with the mission to bolster the company’s reputation as a leader in AI. I also lead communications for the company’s Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), Custom Silicon, and Quantum Computing businesses. And, I direct Amazon Science, where we showcase how we translate theoretical research into practical solutions that improve the lives of hundreds of millions of customers worldwide. Prior to Amazon, I served as Vice President for Technology Communications at IBM. During my tenure with the company, I launched start-up ventures, including the company’s Blockchain business and the industry’s first commercial Quantum computing business; led brand marketing & communications for IBM Research; led external communications for the company’s award-winning Smarter Planet campaign; designed the public debut of IBM’s ‘Project Debater,’ the first AI system that can debate humans on complex topics; launched the world’s fastest and smartest AI supercomputers; and led major corporate communications efforts, including the $34 billion acquisition of Red Hat. I started my tech PR career in Silicon Valley with Golin Harris, Burson Marsteller and Symantec. I’m a Cal Berkeley alum, avid photographer, world traveler and mentor to emerging leaders in Communications.
