About Vincent Tully

As a kid I grew up with a natural curiosity around how things worked. I would take apart computers, remotes, phones, whatever I could get my hands on. I would take it apart, figure out how it worked, and (usually) put it back together. This curiosity never escaped me and when it was time to decide what I wanted to study in College the choice was easy. I graduated from Western New England University in 4 years with my Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.Summer my senior year I work at Stanley Black and Decker as a Manufacturing Engineering Interns where I learned how networking helps advance not only your career but how you learn. As the summer ended I turned my internship into a Co-op where I worked 40 hours/week every week until I graduated in may.During the Co-op I installed and learned to program a new measurement system that aided in the reduction of scrap and rework time for punched out reciprocation saw baldes. It was at this time that I started to trust myself as an engineer and branch out more.I took the measurement system and my knowledge of how to program it and applied it to the measurement and comparison of saw blades. I was able to cut down what would normally take an engineer 30-45 days to complete down to 5.After graduation I transitioned into a role as a Lean Engineer where I worked on data driven optimization of work flows. The continuous improvement practices that were implemented reduced inventory in WIP by and lead to a decrease in lead time.In my current position as a Manufacturing Engineer at Whelen Aerospace Technologies I work to support production and documentation efforts as well as production improvements. A recent improvement was the justification of the implementation of a new potting apparatus. The potting apparatus had a return on investment of just over one year with a decrease in consumable material costs and an increase in throughput. Also, in this role I work with a multidisciplinary engineering team to create and deliver new and innovative technologies while implementing new manufacturing methods.
