Contributed 7+ months of development to the Ex-Alta 3 CubeSat mission, focusing on the On-Board Computer (OBC) running embedded Linux (Yocto/PetaLinux), RTOS, and BIOS-level configuration. Performed multiple hardware - firmware integration tests in AlbertaSat’s clean room, validating and debugging hardware integration over UART, SPI, I²C, and CAN protocols. Contributed to FPGA-based system prototyping and digital logic design (VHDL/Verilog) for satellite subsystems.Developed Rust-based flight software handlers, ground station CLI tools, and automation scripts to streamline mission operations and telemetry handling. Authored comprehensive technical documentation, test procedures, and verification reports, supporting mission traceability and team-wide reproducibility Collaborate in weekly meetings with a cross-disciplinary team of engineers to align on design and testing milestones.

ABOUT VINCENT NGO

I’m a Computer Engineering student focused on building real-time embedded systems. My work centers on low-level firmware development, system architecture, and performance-critical design.I have hands-on experience developing embedded systems using microcontrollers such as STM32 and ESP32, working directly with peripherals and communication interfaces like SPI, I2C, UART, and CAN. I’m particularly interested in how real-time constraints, memory access patterns, and hardware capabilities shape efficient firmware design.In recent projects, I’ve built systems involving RTOS-based architectures, multi-sensor integration, and high-throughput data pipelines. I also spend time working close to the metal - exploring startup code, linker scripts, and debugging system behavior without heavy IDE abstraction to better understand how software interacts with hardware at a fundamental level.Currently, I’m pushing further into system-level design through custom PCB development and exploring hardware acceleration concepts using FPGAs. Long-term, I’m interested in working on advanced embedded systems in domains such as aerospace, defense, or high-performance computing, where reliability and efficiency are critical.I’m always open to connecting with engineers, researchers, and students working in embedded systems, firmware, or hardware-software co-design.
