ABOUT VINCENT JAMES

I am a dynamic individual working within the social values arena having just finished 33 years within the rail industry. I focus on supporting employers to utilise the talent pool which sits within the prison establishment, supporting offenders into meaningful work, and reducing reoffending as a direct result of the approach we take, Engagement, Education, Employment skills, Employment and Securing Accommodation. Experienced HR professional with significant Industrial Relations experience over 33 years. providing challenge, focus, coaching and mentoring to senior leadership and executive leadership.Utilising systems thinking as part of HR transformation I have led some of our large managed station and control redesign leading the front line teams to collaborate on what activities add value to the purpose of there particular system and how they add value to other rail and public elements.leading and working with Various stakeholders I have led organisational design activities across the operations and maintenance functions to deliver effective teams and processes that provide the right outcomes for the Railway.In the various guises of Operations Management I have been a signalling manager, area signalling manager, signalling inspector, local operations manager with line management responsibilities for staff numbering 33 to 360.I spent many years as a trade union representative at various levels which has provided understanding and insight into employee relations and industrial relations and although I now sit on the other side of the table the principal that our people are our greatest asset and deliver for our customers remains.
