About Vinay Iyer
Vinay is Senior RFIC Design Engineer at Nokia, where he works on coherent silicon photonic transceivers for optical communications (primary circuits being Transimpedance amplifiers, Modulator Drivers, VGA and Limiters). He has 10 years of experience (across his Ph.D and industry) in the field of high-frequency integrated circuit design. He has over 5 years of experience in designing and characterizing novel high frequency circuits/systems at mm-wave/terahertz frequencies, using state-of-the-art Indium Phosphide HBT technology. He earned his PhD in EE from the University of Virginia, where he was advised by Dr. Robert Weikle and Dr. Steven Bowers. His dissertation focused on integrated millimeter-wave signal amplification and frequency multiplication for phase conjugation, and was sponsored by NSF and NGIC programs. His areas of research and interest include high frequency HBT IC design, EM theory, transistor layout, and signal coding techniques. He previously interned in the RFIC Design team at Skyworks working on multi-mode, multi band Tx FEM (ANT Switch and coupler) design and characterization. He is a member of the U.S. National Committee for the International Union of Radio Science (USNC-URSI) Commission D (Electronics and Photonics). He serves as a reviewer for the Microwave and Wireless Components Letters (MWCL), Transactions on Circuits and Systems I: Regular Papers (TCAS-I) and Transactions on Terahertz Science and Technology (TTST). He also serves on the board of the MTT (Microwave Theory and Techniques) Society Santa Clara Valley/San Francisco joint chapter. He also serves on the Technical Program Committee for the BiCMOS and Compound Semiconductor Integrated Circuits and Technology Symposium (BCICTS). Technology experience - 65 nm CMOS, 45 nm RFSOI, 130 nm and 90 nm SiGe BiCMOS, 250 nm and 130 nm InP HBT
