About Marcos Villa
20+ years of education experience. 12 years in Higher Education as an undergraduate and graduate Professor, Researcher and Vice President. He has strong social justice commitment collaborating/co-founding Civil Society Organizations in Mexico on topics such as HIV, human rights, incarcerated services, government accountability/transparency, democracy, and peacebuilding. He has written several articles, book chapters, and didactic materials on these topics. Before arriving to Memphis, he co-founded and worked at the Intercultural Research Center of Mexico (CEFIMEX). He is an International Migration specialist, holds a Masters Degree in Nonprofit Management, and a BA in Philosophy and Social Science. Currently he is pursuing his Doctorate Degree in Education at the University of Memphis. He also holds graduate certificates in Government Accountability, Online Education, and Higher Education. First cohort of Tennessee Mosaic Fellows. He has a profound interest in migration and education policies
