Managing the All Children Thrive (ACT) San Gabriel Valley LGBTQ+ Youth Advocacy Coalition, a project of Rainbow Labs and the San Gabriel Valley LGBTQ Center funded by the California Department of Public Health. The Coalition engages LGBTQ+ youth and community leaders in developing and supporting policy-level change in the San Gabriel Valley to ensure LGBTQ+ youth feel safe, seen and valued as their authentic selves. The Coalition will work with a broad network of community based organizations, governmental agencies, public officials, educational institutions, and allies to transform the SGV into a region where LGBTQ+ youth can live authentically, access affirming care and education, and be safe in their homes, schools, and neighborhoods.Activities include:Policy Advocacy: Monitor and advocate for California laws and policies that protect LGBTQ+ youth, such as AB 1955 (SAFETY Act), AB 223 (Trans Youth Privacy), SB 760 (All-Gender Restrooms), and AB 1078 (Curriculum Censorship Protections).Youth-Centered Research: Host focus groups, storytelling sessions, and surveys to uplift the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ youth in the SGV.Community Programs: Develop and promote affirming, culturally responsive programming and public visibility campaigns that reflect the diversity of the SGV’s youth.Infrastructure: Collaborate with partners to build regional networks of support that uphold the rights and dignity of LGBTQ+ young people.
