About Vikas Swarup
In his diplomatic career spanning thirty five years, Vikas served in different capacities in New Delhi and in India\'s missions abroad such as Washington DC, Addis Ababa, London and Pretoria. He was Consul General in Osaka-Kobe, Japan and served as India\'s High Commissioner to Canada from 2017-19. From 2015-17 he was the official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs in which capacity he significantly upscaled the Ministry\'s social media profile and engagement. Besides being an accomplished diplomat, Vikas is also the author of three novels, Q&A (which was filmed as the multiple Oscar winning Slumdog Millionaire), Six Suspects (which premiered on Disney+Hotstar as a 9-part web series called The Great Indian Murder and became the most watched Hotstar Special ever) and The Accidental Apprentice (also optioned for a film). His books have been translated into over forty five international languages. He has participated in the most prestigious literary festivals across the world and written for TIME, Newsweek, The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph (UK), Outlook magazine (India) and Libération (France). Vikas has also given many motivational talks at institutions across the world.
