National Committees: Chaired National Field Advisory Committee at Department of Veteran Affairs. Member of physician Societies and hospital committees: Health Care and Public Policy, Finance Committee, Diversity, National Ad Hoc Committee on Training and National Affairs Committee, Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and Research and Development Committee. Leadership: Organized National VA gastroenterology physician’s conference, drafted the consensus national colon cancer prevention policy for the Department of Veteran Affairs. Led several research teams, organized physicians for training program approval and successfully trained the doctors for super specialization. Chaired the National Endoscopes Standardization workgroup for the VA for 2004 to 2006. Teaching: Supervisor for Medical Students and Medicine Residents, supervised award winning research work of students. Management and supervision of training of super-specialized endoscopists at major university hospitals Research Work: Researched problems, found solutions, operationalized research methodologies to arrive at proof, executed, analyzed results, prepared reports, presented at national meetings, responded to critique and published papers. Supervised NIH and National VA studies. Research work on statins cited in CNN Live, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, USA today. Received 14 Research Awards, 33 Scientific Paper Presentations, 26 journal articles; and 37 scientific abstracts.
