Millions of city-based sellers—restaurants, fashion boutiques, home service providers, barbers, and more—lacked the tools to effectively market themselves and their products. They relied on WhatsApp groups, word-of-mouth, and scattered digital efforts, making it nearly impossible to scale. At the same time, I noticed a shift in the market towards content-driven commerce. Startups like Zepto, Blinkit, and Swiggy Dineout were solving problems for customers, but sellers were left dependent on their own marketing efforts.
