About Vidur Raj

As the founder of Quanastra Pvt. Ltd, my vision is to transform Quanastra into an institution akin to global pioneers like Bell Labs. At Quanastra, we aim to push the boundaries of science and technology, creating impactful solutions that will redefine industries such as quantum computing, communication, bioimaging, and advanced spectroscopy.Before founding Quanastra, my journey in research and innovation took me across leading global institutions. I completed my PhD (2015–2019), followed by two years of postdoctoral research (2019–2021) at the Australian National University (ANU), working with the world-renowned group led by Prof. Chennupati Jagadish and Prof. Hark Hoe Tan. At ANU, my key achievements included the conceptualization and fabrication of the world’s first self-powered single-photon detector and setting a world record for short-circuit current in InP-based solar cells.Subsequently, I joined the University of Glasgow to work with Prof. Robert Hadfield, a pioneer in superconducting detectors, cryogenics, and quantum communications. There, I demonstrated superconducting single-photon detectors with remarkable versatility, operating from UV to mid-IR wavelengths with minimal polarization or angular dependence.Throughout my career, I have published extensively in high-impact journals and delivered over 25 invited talks at prestigious universities, conferences, and seminars worldwide. I was awarded the “Ramanujan Fellowship” by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), India, in 2024.

Looking ahead, we aim to integrate superconducting and semiconducting photodetection technologies into a cohesive platform, offering cutting-edge solutions for quantum computing, quantum communication, bioimaging, AI/ML photonic chips, single-photon imaging, ultra-high-resolution spectroscopy, and weather monitoring, positioning us at the forefront of next-generation technological advancements.
