I am an engineering leader who started my career in June 1998, focused on building and operating cloud systems where reliability and customer trust are non-negotiable.At Atlassian, I lead engineering for reliability, incident management, post-incident practice, and central monitoring. My teams detect customer SLA impacting issues using customer usage signals, anomaly detection, and synthetic monitoring, and we drive crisp execution across the full incident lifecycle.A big part of my work is improving how organizations operate under pressure. I have streamlined severity and escalation criteria to reduce ambiguity, elevated customer communication to be on par with mitigation, and established leadership rotations for the most serious incidents to strengthen decision-making and accountability.I have also raised the bar on post-incident reviews by shifting them beyond root cause into a repeatable system that improves detection, incident management execution, impact quantification, external and internal communications, cross-cutting risk identification, and durable action quality.I apply AI pragmatically to reduce operational load and improve speed and clarity during incidents. This includes real-time incident summaries using collaboration and telemetry signals, drafting internal and customer communications, surfacing likely SMEs and mitigations from historic PIRs, generating PIR drafts, and reducing reviewer burden through automated review and scoring.Earlier in my career, I spent two decades at Microsoft leading teams across Exchange and Microsoft 365, building large-scale data and monitoring platforms that improved service health, operational decision-making, and customer outcomes.
