I am honored to lead the Animation Program at Kingmakers of Oakland, a groundbreaking initiative dedicated to empowering Black youth through the art of animation. In my role as Director, I oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive curriculum designed to provide accessible, high-quality animation education. Our program aims to foster cultural identity, celebrate Black excellence, and create pathways to advanced education and career opportunities in the animation industry.Key Responsibilities:Program Development: Designing and refining a robust curriculum that includes courses in writing, sketching, animation, motion graphics, storyboarding, character design, and 3D modeling.Community Engagement: Building strong partnerships with local schools, community organizations, and industry professionals to recruit students and provide enriching educational experiences.Industry Collaboration: Coordinating with esteemed colleagues from Pixar Animation Studio and other industry leaders to bring real-world expertise and mentorship to our students.Project Management: Leading multiple animation projects, including internal series, collaborative shorts with Pixar, and motion graphics projects for external clients.Student Support: Ensuring a supportive learning environment through mentorship programs, academic advising, and career counseling.Content Creation: Producing educational content such as YouTube tutorials and podcasts to expand the program\'s reach and impact.Fundraising and Networking: Engaging with potential financiers and developing a sustainable funding strategy to ensure the program\'s long-term success.Through the KOOLabs Animation Program, we are dedicated to reimagining education, culture, and wellness, driving narrative change that celebrates Black culture and improves educational and life outcomes for Black youth.
