ABOUT XIN ZHONG

Victor Zhong, a passionate ICT practitioner, aspires after knowledge and desires to be successful. He is open minded and dares to take up challenges. Can-do is his \"kernel\" and Conscientious is his display. He is non nerdy so makes jokes too:).He is now a Senior Cloud Support Engineer in Amazon AWS EMEA SARL (UK), exploring his every Day1\'s inside Amazon everyday. Before joining Amazon, he had just had an immersive Cyber Security, OT and Industry 4.0 experience inside Fonterra\'s global footprint (one of the largest dairy manufacturers in the world, based in NZ). Over there, he oversaw and participated in OT infrastructure operations inside the manufacturing sites/plants and the Security Operations in its global IT infrastructure, both of which are critical to the company\'s business continuity.Further back, he led the network team at the University of Waikato, looking after every aspect of the Enterprise-tiered networks (cabling/patching, telephony systems, edge firewall, routers, WAN, switches, Wi-Fi, and beyond)- his team was building the blocks, envisaging a highly automated network - featuring all-round security, ubiquitous connectivity, robustness, high availability, data visualisation, streamlined collaboration, and when/where feasible machine learning based automation. The vision he set forth for his team was to \"deliver a network that conveys business values and enhance students and the rest of campus users\' experience, support teaching and research excellence, improve operation efficiency, reinforce community engagement, and commit to high performance.\"His proud work was having managed to bring the 700+ switches, 800+ AP\'s campus and DC networks, plus perimeter firewalls and routers, forward from its legacy \"1st Generation\" to its consolidated \"2nd Generation\". Prior to embarking on his next exciting journey, he’d as well prefaced the \"3rd Generation\" that would reflect more of the above visions.Before his 6 years tenure at the University of Waikato, he had worked for Huawei for about 9 years, travelling globally where lately more about within Europe and primarily involved in delivering learning services and network supports to Telco/ISP companies.In a nutshell, his global experience spans across domains like Telcos, Enterprises, Tertiary Educations, and Manufacturing (or, abbreviated as CT, IT, OT). As with Amazon AWS now, this will be greatly expanded further and beyond.Btw, he part-time finished his Master of Cyber Security study with University of Waikato, where he nailed 3x papers in A+ grade.Oh, he loves playing piano too.
