I\'m a part of the Supply Chain Optimization Technologies (SCOT) team, and we build the most sophisticated supply chain in the world, at Amazon scale. We create intelligence that powers automated systems to decide what to buy and when, at what quantity and from whom, where to store it and how to deliver it. We forecast product demand and understand future inventory availability for the millions of products on Amazon.com. We compute accurate delivery expectations for customer orders, and monitor fulfillment network changes to inform delivery updates and optimizations. When customers place orders, our systems use real-time, large-scale optimization techniques to choose from where to ship and how to consolidate multiple orders. We do all of this to get ordered items into customer hands at minimum cost and maximum satisfaction.
