I have over 30 years of experience as an attorney with a focus on business law, including entity formation, business sales and purchases, joint business enterprises, business structuring, and business contracts. My background in litigation gives me the ability to understand the difference between a good and bad agreement and spot holes in contracts. Many lawyers practice business law without experience in litigation, but I am unique. Because of my dual background, I know when a contract will not stand up in court, and I can offer all of the protections that a client needs when negotiating and drafting. Licensed in Texas, I represent both privately held and publicly traded companies across the globe, championing their business goals.From tech, construction, manufacturing, and oil companies to medical practices, I assist clients from a broad spectrum of industries. Well versed in mergers and acquisitions, I take buyers and sellers from start to finish. From filing the correct paperwork and predicting future problems, to finding the best resolutions, I work with my clients every step of the way. I know how to navigate the varying and complex processes of buying and selling a business. In one such case, I worked with an investment banker to finance a multi-million dollar oil sands mining operation in Canada.Trained in Mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution, I have a strong record of settling cases for my clients, in one instance forcing a multi-million dollar purchase of a client’s interest in a company. And when focused on personal injury litigation, I achieved a $3.75 million settlement for a family who suffered the loss of their child due to the gross negligence of a company.I attribute my unique and powerful approach to law to my parents who profoundly impacted my life, from my father’s emphasis on education – ongoing and throughout his life – to my mother’s lessons on the importance of empathy. Because of their guidance and influence, I am able to relate, communicate and listen to my clients, setting me apart in the field of law.My wife, Autumn, and I live in Dallas with our standard poodle, Archie, known as “law dog” around the office when he visits most Fridays. I am especially proud of my two sons, Hunter and Chase. Besides volunteering annually with the Trinity River Clean-Up, I donate legal aid to several children’s charities. I enjoy fly fishing, travel, collecting wine and exploring the best restaurants in Dallas.

Experience - Representative Matters:• Business Law & Business Litigation - Trust litigation: I successfully defended a trustee sued for multiple millions of dollars- Partner disputes: I represented a thirty-year-old construction company owned by family members who sued one another. The firm and I forced a purchase of their client’s interest for multiple millions of dollars, in excess of $2 million- I successfully prosecuted employees who breached their non-competes and confidentiality agreements with their employer- I represented a Vacouver based gold and copper mining company with properties in the U.S. and Peru. I traveled to Peru to do a legal assessment of safety and environmental concerns. I advised and helped with decisions that protected the company, decreasing their potential liabilities- I negotiated the acquisition of uranianian properties for a Vancouver based mining company with properties in the United States. I drafted and negotiated all necessary agreements for the sale and purchase of properties- I successfully prosecuted two consumer class actions against a major computer company and a national bank.• Personal Injury Litigation - I acquired a gross settlement of 3.75 million for forklift negligence resulting in wrongful death of a child- I won a 1 million dollar verdict due to a forklift incident requiring surgery and resulting in permanent injury to client.
