About Victoria Nelson

Always inspired by large-scale constructions, I pursued my dream of becoming a civil engineer. In 2021, while finishing my studies, I had the opportunity to work at Grupo Mitre, where I became familiar with the control and management that a construction site requires and learned to make strategic decisions to optimize resources. This experience also inspired me to obtain a Professional Certification in Project Management at ITBA. After a year, I decided to acquire a different perspective on the construction industry and started in a purchasing position at Criba. I developed negotiation skills, which led me to take on more responsibilities, become a subcontracts coordinator, and gain more exposure in the industry, dealing with work teams and subcontractors on a daily basis. Now, with my Civil Engineering degree in hand and my appetite to continue learning, I am looking forward to growing professionally. It is an honor to be starting my MS in Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics with a concentration in Construction Engineering and Management at Columbia University. I hope to broaden my perspective on the construction industry in a rich intercultural environment.
