ABOUT VICTORIA COTELLA

Dr Victoria Andrea Cotella is an architectural engineer, researcher, and educator whose work bridges the disciplines of digital technologies, cultural heritage, and architecture. She holds a European PhD in Sustainable Technologies, Restoration, and Representation of Architecture and the Built Environment from the University of Naples Federico II, awarded with honours, where her research explored the use of machine learning for the reconstruction of architectural components and generative AI visualisation within heritage contexts.Her work focuses on the integration of digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and Building Information Modelling (BIM) for the documentation, conservation, and revitalisation of architectural heritage. With extensive experience across Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East, she has coordinated digital survey and Heritage-BIM (HBIM) projects that combine technological innovation, creative interpretation, and sustainable design methodologies.Dr Cotella serves as an Honorary Visiting Researcher at the University of Bradford (UK), where she collaborates with the Artificial Intelligence and Visual Computing Research Unit and the archaeology group on the development of intelligent workflows for digital heritage reconstruction and AI-assisted design automation. She has been awarded several research projects by the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) focused on the application of digital technologies in low-income areas to enhance social cohesion and resilience.She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented internationally in Portugal, the UK, India, the USA, and the Middle East. Her advocacy is dedicated to promoting the use of digital technologies in support of heritage conservation and fostering social inclusion in fragmented urban areas.
