About Victoria Rivera Casanova

Going into university, I had no intention to pursue a degree in Computer Science. Freshman year, however, I found myself having fun and enjoying solving problems through the code I was writing. From then on, I gained experience building personal projects and through my internship at Charles Schwab. At my internship, I developed skills working on enterprise level projects. Specifically, I used Angular JS to build a bank lookup UI for customer facing employees. I also learned how to build POST and DELETE endpoints using the Springboot framework. Working as an intern led me to also develop my networking and communication skills in order to better connect with my team and articulate ideas and questions more clearly.While completing my undergraduate degree, I participated in a yearlong research program called The Undergraduate Research Scholar program at TAMU. I worked within a research group focused on hardware security and my undergraduate thesis revolved around the topic of calling context encoding schemes and their uses. I built a dynamic calling context encoding tool using C++ and Intel\'s Pin framework for dynamic binary instrumentation. Comparing our tool’s overall execution time with existing calling context encoding schemes gave the team a realistic idea of where our novice encoding scheme ranked amongst other well-known encoding schemes such as PCCE and CCTLib.Outside the world of software development, I enjoy keeping up with topics related to fashion and futbol. I also enjoy reading new books and discovering new coffee shops wherever I go.
