About Victoria Demeo

I graduated from Cornell University in the spring of ‘23 with a bachelor\'s degree in Biological Sciences concentrating in Neurobiology and Behavior and a minor in Cognitive Science. I am currently a Research Support Specialist and Masters Candidate at the RNA Institute. My masters research consists of investigating the transcriptional hallmarks of spinocerebellar ataxias using CAG-repeat containing cell lines. I also work on another project involving the bioinformatic analysis of HITS-CLIP data to examine the molecular mechanisms of Myotonic Dystrophy Type 1. In addition to my current role at the RNA Institute, I have also participated in their Bioinformatics Summer Fellowship program twice, first as a participant and then as a group leader. In this program, I learned how to use HPC and Linux based command line interface to analyze RNA-Seq data, and how to use RStudio and Python programming to create interactive and informative analysis and visualization. As a group leader, I supported and mentored a diverse group of students with different backgrounds and skill levels, and helped them complete their individual projects and troubleshoot code errors. I am passionate about applying my data analysis skills and biological knowledge to advance the understanding and treatment of neurological disorders, and I am eager to join a team that shares this vision and values.
