ABOUT VICTOR TIMMERS
The electricity network is changing rapidly to enable the transition to Net Zero, and becoming increasingly complex in the process. As a senior system performance engineer at SSEN, I provide specialist power system support to major infrastructure projects such as new substations, offshore wind connections, and HVDC links in the north of Scotland. I am a chartered engineer with 7+ years\' experience working in both industry and academia. My main focus is on electromagnetic transient analysis using PSCAD and automation scripting using Python. I previously completed an industrial PhD with Siemens Gamesa, where I researched DC offshore wind farms and electrolyser integration. I have also worked in consultancy as a power system engineer, carrying out transient and steady-state studies for renewable energy, transmission networks, and distribution systems.
