I am a public-sector minded individual with extensive experience providing guidance to government officials and community organizations to advance their interests and meet the needs of underrepresented communities. While attending UCLA I served as an outreach coordinator for the Pacific Islander Student Association.After graduating from UCLA I returned home to San Diego, CA to work for Luce Forward, LLP in their Real Estate Transactions Group. I left Luce Forward to attend Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. During law school I was awarded the Dean Service Award for outstanding service to the law school through my participation in student activities and community service. After law school, I served as Legislative Counsel for Congressman Faleomavaega in the U.S. House of Representatives, and provided legislative and legal assistance to the Congressman. After completing my service as Legislative Counsel I returned home to San Diego and volunteered with Casa Cornelia Law Center assisting immigrants with the preparation of their immigration documents. I then transitioned into the field of workers compensation first as a Claims Adjuster for a year gaining valuable experience in the State Fund Riverside Office. I was hired as a Workers Compensation Defense Attorney in the State Fund Glendale Office in their State Agency division, where I represented State Agencies at the Workers Compensation Appeals Board. I am now working as a Regional Assistant Chief Counsel in the Legal Operations Department of State Compensation Insurance Fund. I manage a staff of over 60 employees fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment. In addition to my legal background, I have particularly strong communication skills. I am able to connect with a wide range of audiences, from judges and policymakers to program managers and government officials, to community members and immigrant populations.
