As a Detective Sgt. with the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office (CO) I am responsible for the supervision of the Montezuma/Cortez Narcotics investigations Team; a specialized unit focused on large scale narcotics investigations and the apprehension of the most dangerous subjects involved in the distribution, manufacturing and trafficking of such.As Creator/head instructor of the Vigilance Project, I instruct a course based on expertise in the subjects of the Mexican Cartels or otherwise known as Transnational Criminal Organizations and/or Mexican Drug Trafficking Organizations (TCO and MDTOs).The course specializes on teaching how to understand the “indicators” of non-criminal activity vs. the “indicators” of criminal activity relating to Mexican Culture and “Narco” Culture; it also includes proven techniques and procedures during contacts involving MDTOs. The course has been offered since 2014 to a multitude of Organizations, Federal, State and Local law Enforcement Agencies and current members of the United Sates Congress. The course now (2023) includes well over hours of research, visit to sites (Mexico and U.S.), interviews and more.
