ABOUT VICTOR FRÉCHARD
As a civil engineer and PhD in Wood and Fiber Sciences, I currently hold the position of lecturer at the Nancy National School of Architecture while also working as a researcher at the URM MAP with its Architecture and Engineering Research Center team. I conduct multidisciplinary research on the valorization of wood harvesting by-products, such as curved wood and branch junctions, by proposing new structural applications that enrich the architectural language. I examine these emerging approaches to value-addition in a systematic manner, focusing on material properties, geometric characterization methods, parametric design methods, digital and craft manufacturing methods, as well as the relationship between the project stakeholders and the social issues associated with these practices.
