About Vicente Merino

I am currently a Cslt - Financial Analyst in the FP & A department at Verizon VCG under the TracFone brand, where I also served as a Business Data Analyst for 3 years. In both roles I focused on data analysis by querying data from our database (SQL – DB2/Oracle) and gathering insights, whether to solve issues or paint a picture of our current situation using Excel, Tableau, and some basic Python. As a Financial Analyst I get to take this to the next level and use this data to update our Forecasting models on a monthly basis and also create ad-hoc analysis. TracFone is an $8 billion company that owns multiple prepaid brands in the telecommunications MVNO industry and requires the use of large and heavy excel models. I also work with our IT departments to complete projects and CR’s as the SME (both roles). I have been a part of design thinking and agile projects. I have a strong interest in both the financial and data science world. I am fascinated with data and learning new skills and programming languages like Python. I currently use SQL (DB2/Oracle), Excel, and Tableau, as i continue to advance my skill and knowledge in Python. I previously worked for Bayview Asset Management for over 3 years as an Asset Manager, Operations Analyst, and IT Application Support Analyst where we supported, maintained, and upgraded all company softwares/applications. It was a hybrid position that connected the business and the IT department by helping support and streamline processes so that the business can continue to work at optimal levels. I used Oracle and SQL Server to search the company databases to troubleshoot when the business was having trouble with the applications. Before that i was an Asset Manager and responsible for successfully managing a portfolio of early delinquent (3-6 months) mortgage loans owned by a multi-billion dollar, in-house, privately-held fund. Using our best practices and unique ability to work with people, we think critically and creatively to negotiate realistic workouts and positive outcomes that preserve value and where possible, home ownership for home owners. Prior to Bayiew i worked as an Equity/Proprietary Trader at T3 Trading group in Brickell, I learned to utilize Technical analysis, Financial Analysis, Tape reading, Level II, ratios, betas, and fundamental market analysis to execute high probability trades in a volatile market. Also learned long term trading fundamentals and portfolio theories through my MBA certificate. I want to network with like minded and career minded individuals in the Finance and data science world.

   I currently built our teams networking airtime costs financial forecasting model and reduced our updating time from 4 days down to 1 day. I also lead a project to build our teams database, where we transformed and automated excel models and SQL scripts into the database.
