Provides visionary leadership in a complex and diverse academic and health environment. Fiscal responsibilities include developing strategic initiatives to increase and diversify funding sources from grants and industry.• Builds new and innovative programs such as the Internal Monitoring Program designed to monitor, evaluate and improve the quality of research services while keeping current with changes in rules, regulations, and applicable laws.• Determines staffing requirements for organizational management and program delivery. Recruits, hires and directs research staff. Builds a robust and balanced team, whose members are empowered and accountable for performance and outcomes. Ensures human resources leadership including effective succession planning for all positions.

ABOUT VESNA POPOVSKA
I provide a key leadership role in the research portfolio of the Divisions of Pediatric Neurology and Pediatric Neurosurgery (Neurosciences Program) at BC Children\'s Hospital, including concept development, strategic planning and direction, monitoring and evaluation of the research processes within the Neurosciences Research Program. I lead the development and implementation of quality control and quality assurance processes in Neurosciences research, procedures and measures to align with Health Canada regulations, Network of Networks (N2) requirements and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards. I have established partnership and working relationships with key stakeholders and leadership executives from national and international universities as well as the pharmaceutical industry in order to provide strategic leadership for research initiatives. I am responsible for setting the research budget, tracking and monitoring expenditures, reconciling all budgets and taking corrective actions. My fiscal responsibilities include developing strategic initiatives to increase and diversify funding sources from grants and industry. I oversee all human resources matters pertaining to the research coordinators, research physiotherapists, research assistants, research postdoctoral fellows, research nurses and students within the Neurosciences Research Program.
