About Lon Bartel
As the Principal Researcher and former Director of Training and Curriculum at VirTra, I oversee the development and delivery of immersive and realistic training solutions for law enforcement and military personnel. I have more than 20 years of experience as a former police officer and SWAT senior operator, and I hold a master\'s degree in applied exercise science and a force science advanced specialist certification. I am also pursuing a PhD in performance psychology, with a focus on human factors in high-stress situations.My mission is to enhance the safety and performance of our clients by providing them with the most effective and innovative training methods and technologies. I am a subject matter expert in the use of force, firearms, defensive tactics, and VR/XR/AR applications for law enforcement training. I have authored multiple articles and book sections on police training and the use of force, and I have been featured in several news media outlets. I am also a founding member and secretary of the Arizona Tactical Officers Association and a master instructor at TASER International and Simmunitions.
