About Veronica K. Stephens

As a survivor and advocate, I’m passionate about creating space for others to share their life experiences and exploring how media and pop culture shape the way we understand domestic violence. I believe storytelling can educate, empower, and move people toward real change — and that’s the heart of everything I do. Currently, I serve as the Podcast Producer for Laura’s House, a nonprofit providing education and comprehensive services to domestic violence survivors in Orange County, California. In my newest role, I’m also producing and hosting Laura’s House’s first-ever podcast — a platform for honest conversations, expert insight, and survivor stories that aim to shift perspectives and spark action. Before joining Laura’s House, I served as President of Action Force Network, where I developed and presented human trafficking prevention curriculum on topics like Links Between Homelessness and Human Trafficking, Protecting Children in a Digital Age, The Path from Pornography to Sexual Violence, and The Connection Between Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking. That work laid the foundation for the survivor-centered education I now bring into podcasting and outreach. I’ve also created domestic violence prevention curriculum, led community engagement initiatives, and collaborated with schools, service providers, governmental agencies, faith-based communities, and law enforcement. In addition to advocacy, I’ve shared my personal journey in Boxes of Secrets — a non-fiction novel about overcoming sexual abuse in a “perfect” Christian home. Since its release (republished by Tate Publishing in 2015), I’ve been honored to share my story on TV, radio, and print outlets around the world — reaching over 30 million viewers through international programming. Now, I’m bringing all of that experience — as a writer, educator, survivor, and advocate — into the world of podcasting. This next chapter is about connection, healing, and continuing to give voice to stories that matter.
