ABOUT VERONICA C.
I’m a graduate of UC San Diego (B.S in Human Biology with a minor in Chemistry). Throughout my time as a student, I integrated myself into 9+ years of leadership positions, facilitating communication between teachers, mentors, peers, and sponsors. This experience includes being an alumni, media, and public relations coordinator in Kesem, a national, non-profit organization dedicated to providing free summer camps for children affected by a family member\'s cancer diagnosis. I was fortunate to work with dedicated staff, students, and families in keeping the spirit of \"Kesem magic\" bright throughout all of our chapters across the US.Additionally, as an undergrad I was able to assist in protein expression research at the Lukowski Lab in Scripps, specifically alkyne halogenase expression and purification to study their mechanism. Upon returning to San Francisco post-grad, I worked with Dr. Kenneth Akizuki as a medical assistant and am currently studying under Dr. Wong at the Metropolitan Comprehensive Medical Center to obtain my CMA license. In the upcoming years, I hope to pursue an MD in pediatric oncology.
