About Verity Swearingen

I graduated from Washington State University with a degree in Hospitality and Business Management. After working in the wine industry for several years, I ran into a friend from the same WSU program who was working for BECU (Boeing Employees’ Credit Union), it was the perfect marriage of business and hospitality. I started as a Member Consultant, then rose up through several retail leadership positions to become a Branch Manager for over five years. I now serve as a Sr. Program Manager for Business & Community Banking where I am dedicated to improving the member experience with new features, products and services that businesses need to be efficient and stay competitive. My favorite part of my current role is finding business members to highlight in our marketing campaigns. I recently achieved one of my BECU bucket list items: being honored as a Being BECU Award recipient. My time at BECU can be summed up like this: Experienced credit union professional with a demonstrated history of leading people and projects in the financial industry. Doer of all things and wearer of many hats.I am passionately dedicated to the credit union movement. I continue to expand my learning and advocacy by attending CUNA Council conferences as a Crasher and a panel speaker on several occasions. I am an Honors graduate from Western CUNA Management School (WCMS) and was invited to return the following year as one of six Graduate Assistants to mentor and support the next generation of credit union leaders.In my \"me\" time, I volunteer in my community to support, promote and engage with local business by serving on the Greater Newcastle Chamber of Commerce board, most recently being appointed to Chamber President in 2022. You can find me at a soccer pitch, golf course, hiking trail, yoga studio, ski resort, paddle boarding at my property in the mountains, jumping out of perfectly good airplanes or galivanting in Europe any given day.
