About Verena Albert
Highly motivated and driven scientist with extensive experience in molecular biology, metabolism, cardiac safety, in vitro pharmacological screening, in vitro phenotypic assays and fragment-based screening. During my career I have worked with diverse animal/cell models and disease areas and successfully initiated and contributed to several inter-disciplinary scientific collaborations.I have a passion for bringing scientists together and sharing my knowledge with other researchers and the general public. I firmly believe that community outreach can help stake holders and the general public to better understand the importance of biomedical research. Accomplishments• 10 years’ experience of working with transgenic mouse models, cell lines and primary cells• Established new research directions and implemented new techniques and assays in the area of mitochondrial function, metabolic disorders and cardiac safety testing• Experienced with cutting-edge drug discovery technologies, such as fragment-based screenings, chemical proteomics, in vitro phenotypic assays and high throughput pharmacological profiling• Managed and contributed to multiple simultaneous projects and successfully collaborated with numerous scientists from various different fields, resulting in several co-authored, peer-reviewed articles• Provided opportunities for fellow researchers from academia and local biotech to connect and exchange ideas by organizing various social and networking events• Effective communication at many levels: scientists, junior staff, funding agencies and the general publicExpertise: Molecular Biology, Metabolism, Diabetes and Obesity Research, Energy Homeostasis, Mitochondrial Function, Cardiac Safety, Assay Development, Fragment-based Screening, Phenotypic Screening, Primary Cell Isolation and Culture, In Vivo Mouse Models, In Vitro Cell Culture, Biochemistry, Public Outreach
